Your Learning Experience

Severnvale Academy was established in 1982 and is now owned and run by husband and wife team Ed (Managing Director) & Caroline (Principal & Director). Together with a very motivated team of experienced and highly skilled teachers, we all work hard to make sure that your experience here benefits from our extensive wealth of knowledge.

As an independent language school, Severnvale Academy promotes a relaxed but highly engaging professional learning environment with a clear emphasis on personal welfare and development. You will enjoy a varied social programme at least twice a week where you will sample the local culture and practice your language with fellow students and staff out of the classroom. Your course here will involve much more than classroom lessons, our personalised approach to your experience means your individual needs will be recognised and met with a tailored programme.

INSPIRATIONAL teaching…

Is something we have all experienced at one time or another in our lives. It depends on experienced teachers understanding your individual needs as a learner; and then having the flexibility and skill to adapt to them, helping you learn as much as possible. We have a team of such teachers – enthusiastic, qualified and caring – and have developed courses and teaching methods which inspire, motivate, and most of all, deliver the language progress you want.

…in an adult learning environment

Minimum student age 20; typical age-range 22 – 55; average age 28-35. Throughout the academic year all classes are maximum 6, average 4-5 people; in summer (July/August) morning classes only are max. 8, av. 5-6 people. Severnvale accepts a maximum of 40 adults at any time – typical numbers are between 22 and 35 at most times of year. All lessons are of 45 minutes’ duration. Facilities are extremely comfortable, and include 9 classrooms, computer & listening centres, library, two lounges for relaxing, sun terrace etc.

The friendliness of the staff and hosts is passed on to the students. The courses are tailored precisely to the students' level. All the teachers encouraged me to speak, even when I had trouble with the vocabulary. My mistakes were corrected immediately, which made me laugh often. I had a lot of fun and improved a lot.
Thanks to my teachers Angela, Stephanie, Charlie, Rachel, Lawrence, and Ian. Your teamwork is what keeps us pupil moving forward!
The social events throughout the week are a great way to connect with other course participants while improving your language skills. Thank you for your support there Jill and Keith, Angela, Naomi, and Charlie! It was wonderful to be back with you. The host is a very important part of a language trip like this. I had one of the best hosts in Gilly. She also helped me progress incredibly. Thank you for everything!
This is my third time there, and not only did I improve my skills, but I also had a great time. I plan to return. See you next time!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My training week at Severnvale Academy was an amazing one. The staff is very kind and support you during all your training session. The atmosphere is very friendly and I enjoyed this very good team spirit through some events.
The training was very helpful and efficient thanks to small training group (one to one or 3 studients max.). Teachers are very kind, encouraging and give us some many skills and incomes to have very quickly benefits on our English level.
I will be back asap to continue improving.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been here for a week (wished it was for more though), the teachers were very very kind, friendly and nice, the lessons were useful and very enjoyable, we laughed a lot too!
There was the possibility of having hot tea whenever you wanted (the first one was free) and Stephanie, the general manager, was always available for any help and transportation matters.
If you're searching for a school for practice and improve your english this would be a good choice, the town is very beautiful, full of ancient British architecture, calm and easily visitable by foot.
